Lessons on Little Ashes is Novel Novice Twilight’s educational look at the movie starring Twilight‘s Rob Pattinson.

Though not directly related to Twilight, we figured this was a perfect opportunity to tie in some educational history lessons … since, you know, most Twilight fans are interested in the movie because of a certain actor. And as an education-based website, we thought this was a great way to help spread some lessons on history.

  1. It’s the very public and eccentric Dali that we all know so well – I’m very curious to see how this movie paints him as a young man, developing ideas, on his way to building the legacy of a superstar artist.

  2. My original interest in this movie was purely fangirl desire to see Robert Pattinson in a steamy adult role … but the more I read/learn about the movie & the history, the more I’m interested in just seeing the movie for itself. Every clip I’ve seen so far is fabulous! It’s coming to Portland on the 22nd & my coworker and I are going to a matinee that day after we’re done with the morning news!

  4. I saw “Little Ashes” this weekend and thought it was a beautiful movie, very luscious and well-acted. In fact, I feel that Rob’s role is the kind that most actors are only awarded after they’ve already made a name for themselves. The director obviously took a chance on Rob during his pre-Twilight fame and I have to admit that he was a gamble that paid off. He’s beautiful and quirky as Dali, very humorous and deep, and only showed a few little Edward-isms that I didn’t mind at all. Now if I can just get my eyes on “How to Be” (my cable system doesn’t offer IFC).

  5. I have to agree, my original interest was just because it was a film with Rob in it, but then I started reading books about Dali. He was such a fascinating man and the time period itself is so rich in culture and history. Thank you for presenting these lessons. I’m going to link to them on my blog.
