“I am not a number. I am a man.”

That classic line was first uttered by Patrick McGoohan in the 1967 classic TV show “The Prisoner.”

Now, a reimagining of “The Prisoner” is coming to AMC in a three-part, six-hour series  … featuring New Moon’s Jamie Campbell Bower.

The series also stars Jim Caviezel as a man known as Six, who finds himself mysteriously trapped in a place called The Village, and Ian McKellan as Number Two, the man who seems to be in charge. Here is the series’ official synopsis from AMC:

A man, known as Six, finds himself inexplicably trapped in The Village with no memory of how he arrived. As he explores his environment, he discovers that his fellow inhabitants are identified by number instead of name, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. Not knowing whom to trust, Six is driven by the need to discover the truth behind The Village, the reason for his being there, and most importantly — how he can escape.

Jamie Bower Campbell plays 11-12, the son of Number Two — who begins to question his life after meeting Six.

I became a fan of the 1967 series as a teenager, when my parents brought home some old episodes on VHS. (Yes, before the days of DVD). I was hooked. It was quirky and weird and bizarre, and most of the time you had no idea why things were happening … but the characters were engaging and you kept watching to find out what would happen next.

Personally, I can’t wait for AMC’s version — and I highly recommend it!
