This week is the ALA’s 2009 Teen Read Week, which encourages teens to read just for the fun of it! After all, with a library card — reading is fun AND free entertainment! And we here at Novel Novice Twilight are all about encouraging reading.
This year’s theme is “Read Beyond Reality” … you can see a few of my suggested reads at Portland Books Examiner:
- Dune by Frank Herbert
- The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
- His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman
- Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block
- Bran Hambric: The Farfield Curse by Kaleb Nation (a new release)
- Generation Dead by Daniel Waters
- Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld
- A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
- The Thursday Next books by Jasper Fforde
- The Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson
Also check out more suggestions on NNT’s Reading Recommendations and our If You Like Twilight pages.
What are some of your favorite books that take place “Beyond Reality”? Tell us in the comments!
