Lisa & Vanessa — the owners of travel tour company Novel Journeys – have shared with us their experiences in Italy during the filming of New Moon and have been inspired to start offering Twilight tours of Italy!

My business partner Vanessa and I are huge Twilight fans. We flew to Italy in May for the filming of New Moon to try and catch a glimpse of the movie in the making and maybe even better a glimpse of the actors. While sitting in a cafe at 5 am at the edge of the piazza where the movie crew was setting up, having a cappuccino and enjoying the early morning hustle,bustle we were asked by a casting director if we would like to be extras in the movie! Of course we accepted his offer and were taken to the “castle” to fill out paperwork and get into costume. The next two days were spent on different sets throughout the town of Montepulciano where we donned red capes (our costume) and did scene after scene and take after take. We encountered Kristen Stewart who ran just by us in the famous piazza scene where she runs to save Edward from his immanent death. We saw Rob Pattinson who stood just a few feet from us in the same Piazza scene (without a shirt). Ashley Green was doing her Porsche scenes and we were able to take a picture with the now famous yellow car. We were exhausted after 14 hour days of working on the set but this unique experience was one we will always remember and treasure as our Twilight in Tuscany Journey.

We decided to share our experience with whom ever would like to take a trip with us to this magical place. Being tour operators and owning and operating our own company named Novel Journeys International we have created a our very own, “Twilight in Tuscany” tour. Designing and recreating our experiences from a walk through underground passageways of the Volturri’s lair ending with a wine tasting, to a stroll down the cobblestone streets where filming took place was just as exciting as when we were there.
