Today, Merriam-Webster’s released it’s list of new words for its collegiate dictionary. Among them? Fan Fiction:

Fan fiction (1944): stories involving popular fictional characters that are written by fans and often posted on the Internet.

Here at Novel Novice Twilight, we run regular fan fiction challenges — and for July-August, we’re teaming up with Brian Leaf & Defining Twilight to offer some really cool prizes to our winning entries! Check it out:

For the July-August Fan Fiction Challenge, write a missing scene from any of the four Twilight Saga books.

Winners will receive:

First Place: Autographed Twilight cast photo
Second Place: Signed copy of Defining Twilight
Third Place: Limited Edition Defining Twilight t-shirt

All of our winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd & runners-up) will still get an awesome graphic banner to post with their stories, as well, in addition to having their work posted right here on NNT!
