First Place: Autographed Twilight cast photo
Second Place: Signed copy of
Defining Twilight
Third Place: Limited Edition Defining Twilight t-shirt

All of our winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd & runners-up) will still get an awesome graphic banner to post with their stories, as well, in addition to having their work posted right here on NNT!

For the July-August Fan Fiction Challenge, write a missing scene from any of the four Twilight Saga books.

  • The story can be told from any character’s POV (or in second or third person narrative).
  • You may write a missing scene from any of the four books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse or Breaking Dawn), but the key is to write a MISSING scene. That means, it cannot be a scene that appears in any of the books; we want you to write something that was left out.
  • You may not rewrite an existing scene from another character’s POV. Your story must focus on a scene that was not included in any of the original books. (If you rewrite an existing scene from another character’s POV, your story will be disqualified).

Here are the complete rules and details:

  • Story submissions must follow the guidelines mentioned above.
  • Stories must use proper grammar & spelling; any stories with frequent grammatical & spelling errors will be automatically disqualified.
  • Stories should be at least 500 words long.
  • Please keep the content of your story to PG-13 or lower rating.
  • When e-mailing your story submission, you must attach the story as a Word document (.doc) or Text file (.txt).
  • With your story, please include a title and your author’s name.
  • For this challenge, you may only submit one story.
  • Anyone is welcome to enter the contest, but please note: we can only send prizes to people living within the United States. Sorry.

E-mail all story submissions to: sara.novelnovice@comcast.net

All submissions are due Monday, August 31st by midnight (PST).

And be sure to check back for more exciting goodies from NNT & Defining Twilight in the coming days and weeks. To learn more about Defining Twilight, and additonal contests, go here.

  4. hey…can it be a series of little scenes that are all tied together? all as a one shot, of course.

  5. Just wondering, can it be a scene that was MENTIONED or hinted that occurred but Stephenie didn’t actually include it? Or does it have to be completely original that is included in a space of time that is just not filled?

    • Jenn, a mentioned/hinted at scene is fine. As long as the scene doesn’t actually play out in the books, that’s A-okay!

  6. If you want to put a scene between two scenes in the book can you mention the scene before your scene so people know wich part of the book your scene is in?

  7. Can it be from two different point of veiws?
And can it be a continuation of Breaking Dawn?

    • Yes, it can be from two different points of view.
No, it cannot be a continuation of Breaking Dawn. It must be a MISSING scene from any of the 4 books.
